People often ask us, "how can we help in a tangible way?"
A gift of $25 buys cleaning supplies, a set of towels, a blanket or pots and pans.
A gift of $50 busys sheets, pillow and blanket
A gift of $200 buys a bed, delivered and set up
A gift of $500 will buy furniture for an entire apartment
A gift of $1,000 will furnish and equip an entire apartment
We are often asked why we do what we do for people who are homeless and living with severe and persistant mental illness. It's hard work, often frustrating, and there's never enough money to meet the community's needs. Sometimes we even question it ourselves. But then we'll receive a client evaluation like this one we recently received from a guest at our newly opened Crisis Respite Center in response to the question, "What was helpful to you?".
Many thanks are in order for our very successful Stand Up Sacramento Comedy Showcase held earlier this month. We are grateful to everyone who contributed toward this event, and we welcome any additional gifts you may consider in these final hours of 2013 by clicking here!
Sacramento, Calif. – The TLCS Mental Health Crisis Respite Center will celebrate its grand opening with a press conference on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 11am. Please call (916)441-0123 x 115 for location and directions. TLCS was awarded $1 million per year for up to 2 years to provide 24-hour/7 day-a-week mental health crisis respite services that can be accessed in a warm and supportive community-based setting. This program will promote stabilization for adults experiencing a mental health crisis.
We're just days away from our big Stand Up Sacramento Comedy Showcase, Tuesday night, December 3rd at Sacramento's Crest Theatre. Have some great laughs and support a wonderful organization! Tickets are available from TLCS staff, the Crest Box Office or click here to purchase online. We're grateful to everyone who has supported this event, and to all who have contributed to our various fundraising appeals!
Some say laughter is the best medicine. I say, "Bring it on, and make it habit forming!"
For a number of years, TLCS held a Comedy Night fundraiser. It gave us the opportunity to not only laugh and raise badly needed funds, but also to highlight the work we do in the community and to recognize some of the people who help make it possible.
After a long absence, we're delighted to bring back the laughter, with our "Stand Up Sacramento" Comedy Showcase. As described later in this newsletter, it will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd at The Crest Theater in downtown Sacramento. It will feature seven terrific local comics and a chance to learn more about TLCS. Oh, yes, and some great medicine!
